AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT

STAGED READING OF AN ORIGINAL MUSICAL

 

“SEPTEMBER DECEPTION”

By Ed Munger and Herb Weisburgh

 

Theatre Workshop, the Colonial Little Theatre playwrights group, announces auditions for a staged reading of the original musical “September Deception”, written by Ed Munger and Herb Weisburgh.

 

When:        Sunday, Feb. 8 (1-3 p.m.)  and Tuesday, Feb. 10 (7-9 p.m.)

Where:       Johnstown Senior Citizens Service Center,

109 E. Main St., Johnstown

 

Production dates are April 17 and 18 at Colonial Little Theatre, 1 Colonial Court, Johnstown. Steve Suriano will direct. Nancy Calhoun will be music director.  The staged reading of the two-act musical will be with dialogue and vocals. There are singing roles for five women and three men; non-singing roles for one woman and one man.

 

Auditions will include singing and readings from script.  Please be prepared to sing 16 bars from a song of your choice. Actors should bring their own sheet music.

 

“September Deception,” a comedy of mistaken identities, takes place in Manhattan, and Florence, Italy.  The singing roles are: Victor Romano, a widower; his daughter  Amy, 12; his father Antonio, a businessman; Hildegaard, their Norwegian housekeeper; Sergio, Victor’s playboy friend in Florence; Lucia Albertini, a street singer in Florence; Marie Albertini, her mother, and a young girl street singer. The non-singing roles: Ilsa, a Swedish EMT; and Frank Robertson, a party guest.
